I am alive!
May. 30th, 2010 09:59 pmHave avoided posting simply because it would have degraded into a stream of life ramblings. But much has happened since my last visit to the ol' Journal Live, little of it significant to the geek community, although I did get a couple of wicked pieces of fanart up on Deviantart!
http://evelynkawoosh.deviantart.com/
So... that's all I've got at the moment. I have been out of the loop on most of my fandoms for a while...
Need to get the sewing machine set up so that I can make moar cool stuffz!
Hugs to the f-list! <3 I have not forgotten you all, despite being pressed for time (like a mummy)!

The MACRA TERROR!
Mar. 28th, 2010 10:30 amThank you Youtube for stealing another three hours of my life.
Ben and Jamie get whumped! There is dancing, humour, betrayal, and Two + Polly as an unstoppable team!
This is my new favorite episode! ^_^
And Two... Ah, I adore Troughton's Doctor so much - and escpecially after recently peeking into some of the Tenth Doctor's novels. I'm sorry, NuWho fans, but there is NOTHING awe-inspiring about Ten that isn't outshown millions of times stronger in the Second Doctor.
Oh, and the Macraaaaaaa! (because they're just that amusing, even when attacking Jamie in a poisonous-gas-filled mineshaft -- why can't they come up with this sort of creative complexity in modern television? *sigh*)

5 second Book Meme
Mar. 13th, 2010 02:37 am* Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
* Don't dig for your favourite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.
Resultant sentence:
"Identify the most disjunct voice overall."
Awright Music Theory textbook! I was worried I'd get a page with no words! ;D

100poems: Days 2 and 3
Feb. 19th, 2010 11:31 amI didn't remember to post my poem here yesterday, although if anyone is a music nerd and is interested in a Theory-based poem, you can read it here.
Now, then... Today's poem! There are cherry trees already beginning to bloom, the weather is gorgeous, splendid, unbelievable for this time of year! I wish all of my classes were out of doors!
( Day 3 - An early spring! )

Feb. 17th, 2010 10:37 pmServed hot chocolate to the homeless tonight! It was pretty cool. It's great finding so many kind and genuine people forming their own community, surviving. It makes me want to do more to help them, especially after hearing so many stories and seeing how thankful they were for something as simple as something hot to drink. I will definitely be going back out with the street ministry group on campus.
I also started back up at
100poems. Life is a little bit crazy right now, in many good ways, but also a few more confusing ones that still need to work themselves out...
Anyways, poetry is a good way to get stuff out there, so... you all will now have the opportunity to read a daily poem of wildly varying quality for the next 100 days! No worries. I'll put it under a cut so it doesn't spam your flist.
(Also, don't worry if they're terribly emo. It isn't necessarily a reflection on my personal/current state-of-being.)

Because everybody's doing it! That's why!
Feb. 10th, 2010 01:42 amIt is late. Roomie is noisy. This calls for a meme!
1. Take five books off your bookshelf
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
Book #1: The Odyssey by Homer: The Norton Critical Edition (translated and edited by Albert Cook)
Book #2: Dragonsinger by Anne McCaffrey
Book #3: Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Book #4: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
Book #5: Homeless Bird by Gloria Whelan
Tell me, Muse, about the man of many turns, who many ways wandered when he had sacked Troy's holy citadel; he saw the cities of many men, and he knew their thought; on the ocean he suffered many pains within his heart, striving for his life and his companions' return. She was about to look when a hissing to her left attracted her. "For he is forced to make everybody like him." "Reliable historical sources tell us this much," he said. Immediately I knew it would be the homeless bird, flying at last to its home.

The showww is this weeek! *skitter*
Jan. 24th, 2010 08:44 pmIt's been an absolutely mad week. And tomorrow I'm diving into another mad week. February never looked so good!
Thank God for my online friends, plus there are some nice folks in the dorms who popped in for a brief visit. Located a laundromat today. Went to laundromat. Yesss! I love feeling clean again. Was stopped twice on the street -- apparently I look charitable. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a little awkward sometimes.
Antigone Now opens Wednesday for students, then Thursday/Friday/Saturday for everyone else. I'm really trying not to panic now. The cast (and our beloved director) could use some prayer right now!
On the bright side - my affinity for graphic design has finally come in handy. Did quite a lot regarding set and props. Huzzah! I might take pictures of the crest I made for Anachronistic-Modern!Thebes. It's pretty sweet.

Pure crack. In a good way! Oh, I'm gonna miss Ten.
(And as for the Doctor's musical abilities... um... not sure what to say here, except that he hasn't gotten better with age. Might have more luck with a recorder...) ^_<
I wish I could have been at the event they filmed this for!

Ficcers: FREE BOX!
Dec. 8th, 2009 08:35 pmAmidst a swamp of pre-finals work, I have dug up many an old text document in the dusty corners of my computer's hard drive. Many of these are random snatches of fanfic or plot outlines and such...
I am completely resigned to the fact that most of them will never be written, not by me at least. But I can't quite throw them away, so I had an idea.
( Warning - LONG post! ) Like I said, you can change the fandoms around, so even if you have never seen Early Edition or aren't into Stargate, there are possibilities there, I hope. ;)
(Many, many surprised happy hugs to whoever managed to read all of that)

Yay! Stress Implosion!
Dec. 8th, 2009 12:25 amMeaning: all my stress just vanished in a puff of overload. I feel great!
Working on papers is fun when you get to mock 3rd century monks! ;D
Alsos...
New Chuck episodes on Hulu! *dies of squee*
I totally would watch this just for Agent Casey, though... His painfully deadpan cynicism is hi-larious. Plus... Hello... Jayne is a super-spy? (There's one ep where he's washing the Crown Vic and his conversation with Chuck used the word "Shiny" one too many times. I nearly lost it! XD)

So, there's this person who's fic I've been reading for a while, and I was thinking of friending them. I'm scanning their LJ page and being amazed at the number of tags that tie into some of my more obscure interest sets, then I mis-read one... "tag:john wycliffe" And I gave this huge guffaw and loudly said "No way! John Wycliffe is in their tags?!"
It was sort of disappointing when I re-read it and it actually said "tag:john winchester".
...sad day.
I am such a nerd sometimes.

Did you see the news? Global warming is a hoax! I already knew that.
But more importantly: I have survived the swine flu!
Do I at least get a T-shirt?
Alas, no. However, I do get to add it to my growing list of near-misses. It's a wonder I'm alive at all, really. Anyways - got back to the apartment just in time to use up those parsnips I bought a week ago. Yummy stew is now on the stovetop, and I'm hoping that my classes haven't gotten totally beyond me while I was snoozing around, coughing, and watching the Fifth Doctor run around the television screen.
Also - being sick for a week has done it. I didn't think it was physically possible, but I am now sick of tea. And coffee. And any hot drink really.
Germs are stupid.
But life goes onward! Time is unstoppable! Haha!
*trundles off toward the kitchen*
